Giving and receiving–The United Way!

As the United Way of the Quad Cities conducts its annual campaign, we at HMHI enthusiastically participate. Our employee fundraising projects perk our interest daily, as we await the latest Bingo number to see who will win each game’s employee prize. We share our agency story with local businesses, as well. Since HMHI benefits from the United Way, we want the community know that their contributions are funding a valuable service.

Beverly Ricketts presents Sister Mary Ann Vogel the personal product items that Northwest Bank and Trust employees collected for HMHI participating families.

Last week, HMHI’s Sister Mary Ann Vogel gave two such talks to help Northwest Bank and Trust┬áCompany of Davenport kick off their employee United Way contribution campaign. Their employees collected diapers and baby wipes for the infants, babies and toddlers participating in the HMHI program to further generate support for our families. These products are costly for our single parents to purchase, yet they are a constant and unavoidable expense for a young parent.

The photo accompanying this article shows a part of the merchandise that employees contributed! Our cupboards went from empty to full, thanks to this influx of products from the generous employees at Northwest Bank.

HMHI appreciates the support it receives from the community. As the United Way Annual Campaign continues, we hope local employees will remember Humility of Mary Housing as they complete their annual payroll deduction forms for the United Way at their work places.

Thanks to the generosity of the Quad Cities, families who lack homes find a way out of homelessness through HMHI’s programming. We can’t do this without your support, so we say “thanks!”
